Tilson returned to chair citizenship committee

Dufferin-Caledon MP David Tilson has been re-elected to chair the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration.
“It’s an honour to be re-elected as Chairman to the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration,” Tilson said. “The work performed by this Committee has proven to be both interesting and challenging and I look forward to joining my colleagues from all three parties in tackling important issues during this session of Parliament.”
The committee examines orders of reference on citizenship and immigration the House of Commons refers to it. The orders of reference may pertain to bills, estimates or order-in-council appointments. The committee may also study issues that it selects.
Furthermore, this Committee studies and reports on all matters relating to the mandate, management and operation of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), as well as the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB).
Tilson was first elected to the committee Feb. 3, 2009.
