Rutherford win tightens standings in senior league

Having the last-place team beat the first-place team is a great way to tighten up the standings, and that’s just what happened Monday night in the Caledon Senior Hockey League.
Rutherford Global Logistics posted their first win of the campaign, handing Yale Industrial Trucks their first loss. Powered by two goals from Jim Kutchera, Rutherford downed Yale 5-2 at Don Sheardown Memorial Arena. In the other games, Heart Lake Insurance beat Jiffy Lube Oilers 7-4 and Fines Ford Lincoln took a 6-3 decision from Grit Bagmen.
Rutherford 5, Yale 2
Aside from Kutchera, team rep Nick Taccogna also bagged two points for Rutherford with a goal and an assist, as did Scott Sinclair with two assists.
Bruno Fracassi and Rich Petrie scored the other goals. Single assists went to Bill Doherty, Garry Hoxey, Jim Dunbar, Nick Pistilli and Tony Calabro.
Steve Smith had a goal and an assist for Yale. Team rep James Heenan scored the other goal while Bernie Tisdale, Brian Samuel and Joe Guaragna all had one assist.
Heart Lake 7, Jiffy Lube 4
Steve Tarasco was the spark plug for Heart Lake with two goals and two assists.
Right behind him was Tim Sinclair with two goals and one helper. Ageless John Castellucci came back rejuvenated by a tour of Italy and bagged three assists. Team rep Ian Kerr had a goal and two assists. Mike McNamara had a goal and an assist. Peter Kuchar scored the other goal. Team sponsor Chris Spilar and Jamie Hardman each had two assists while Frank McKay had one.
Team rep Peter Coghill had two goals and an assists for Jiffy Lube. Pete McNamara scored once and set up two goals. Greg Frangakis scored the other goal. Single assists went to Marty Madensky, Frank Cirone, Clark Chung and Rick Geiger.
Fines Ford 6, Grit 3
Bret Smith led the way for Fines Ford with two goals and an assist.
Bill Moyer chipped in a goal and two assists. Dom D’Orazio had one of each. Alex Dorosh and Jeff Boyles scored the other goals. Dom Spignesi and Joe Palumbo each grabbed two assists while Stefan Pacula had one.
Carlo Fantin, Jim Sabaziotis and Robert Ianno scored for Grit. Danny Tasson, Mike Shore, Kyle Smith and team sponsor Greg Collins all had one assist.
