Rutherford alone at the top in men’s hockey

Jack Gibson and Dan Labine put Fines Ford Lincoln in the driver’s seat for the first time this season in Caledon Senior Hockey League action.
They both scored two goals to lead the Motor Men to their first win of the season Oct. 6 at Don Sheardown Arena in front of a less-than-sold-out crowd, a 7-3 decision over George’s Arena Sports. In the other games, Bolton Chiropractic Centre downed Yale Industrial Trucks 7-3 and Rutherford Global Logistics took over sole possession of first place with a 6-3 win over Jiffy Lube Oilers.
Fines Ford 7, George’s 3
In addition to his two goals, the handy-man Gibson added two assists while Labine had one assist.
John Pitsadiotis and Ian Kerr both had one goal and an assist, while Bill Davis added the other goal. Greg Collins chipped in two assists with Santo Gazzolla and John Pallotta drawing one each.
Jim Rogers led George’s attack with a goal and an assist while Greg Farrow and George (Not The Chief) Armstrong both scored a goal. Single assists went to Maurizo Giorgio, Dave Smith and Gary Faultless.
Rutherford 6, Jiffy Lube 3
James Heenan made a triumphant return to the CSHL after knee troubles by notching a hat trick for the Rutherford crew.
Ageless Bob McHardy chipped in a goal and an assist while Kitchen King Vince Varvaro and Bob Smith had the other goals. Peter Coghill and Jim Horan both had one assist.
Joe Palumbo’s hot hand continued for Jiffy Lube with a goal and an assist, while Rich Petrie and Dom Orazio scored the other goals. Mike McNamara, Bill Doherty and Robert Masutti all had one assist.
Bolton Chiropractic 7, Yale 3
Team rep David Shoalts managed to get his stick on the ice in time to score two goals and add an assist to lead the Chiropractors.
Jeff Boyles, Howard Wight and Larry Pevato each contributed one goal and one assist. Paul Speck and Mike Shore scored the other goals. John Crossley contributed two assists, with the tardy Mark Perrin, Rick Agar and Dave Armstrong notching one each.
Team rep Jim Dunbar scored twice for Yale while Garth Young matched him in points with a goal and an assist. Bill MacKenzie, Dan Tasson and Joe (The Barber) Guaragna each had one assist.
