Editorial — Community thrives on volunteers

This is the time of year when our society takes a bit of time to acknowledge those who work to improve the community through their volunteer efforts.
A lot of these people who give of their time are easy to spot. Most parents know who coaches their kids’ sports teams. But do they know the people behind the scenes, who arrange the schedules and make sure the ice and field time is available? Some of the volunteers are not as visible as others, but their contributions are vital to the fabric of this community. If they were not there, doing what they do, they would be sorely missed.
The Town took time Monday night to honour about 40 of these people. It was worthy recognition, to be sure, but these people are but representatives of a lot of others who help make the community what it is.
It’s important that you don’t forget them, since they aren’t forgetting you.
