Caledon Council has approved an interim overnight parking accommodation and pilot

program for Alderbrook in Bolton, with dedicated overnight parking spaces at Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness (CCRW).

At Tuesday’s Council meeting, Councillor Cosimo Napoli brought forward a motion to provide the community at Alderbook in Bolton with interim overnight parking accommodation and to begin the process of a pilot program.

His motion states that Alderbrook Place in Bolton has experienced ongoing parking challenges and is uniquely situated adjacent to the CCRW, where residents of the Alderbrook community have historically utilized parking for overnight purposes for approximately 10 to 15 years, notwithstanding existing parking restrictions.

It also states that recent enforcement of applicable parking regulations has resulted in increased

community concern and requests for relief, particularly where some properties have limited

on-site parking capacity.

He noted that the proximity of CCRW presents an opportunity to pilot both interim and longer-

term parking accommodation measures consistent with the broader municipal parking strategy.

Council unanimously approved the motion.

This motion will now direct staff to allocate up to 10 parking spaces at the CCRW for overnight residential parking for eligible Alderbrook Place residents; these spots would be part of a pilot overnight paid parking permit program, where residents would have to meet eligibility requirements.

As an interim measure, and until a formal permit system is established, existing “No Parking” and three-hour limited parking signage will be removed or temporarily covered for those designated spaces to permit overnight parking.

Going forward, staff will monitor and evaluate the pilot program, including community feedback, and will report back to Council with details of the permit framework prior to implementation.

This pilot program comes forward following the recent undertaking of the Southfields Parking Study and the implementation of a pilot program.
