Since 1985, Caledon residents have enjoyed the famous donuts and coffee on Allan Drive in Bolton.
Whether you’re staying up to date with their changing donuts of the season or running into the owners at local community events dropping off hot chocolate or coffee, you’re sure to know the name Coffee Time.
Although the name is just as familiar, Coffee Time Bolton runs independently from the franchise.
For over three decades, it was run by Tellos and Monique Charalambides, who decided to sell the store in 2021.
This is when the current owner and operator Diana Mollicone jumped in with her family.
In the middle of her third maternity leave, Mollicone shares that she traded her career in engineering “for life behind the counter,” closer to her home and to her three young children.
Mollicone shares that during the takeover, Tellos and Monique helped her every step of the way and were “incredibly supportive”.
Whether that be through personal introductions to suppliers, or handwriting recipes down to the exact portion.
Mollicone shares that over the past four years they have made some “much-needed” updates to the beloved coffee shop.
Many changes were behind the scenes, she says, with new kitchens and renovated customer washrooms, but much was added to the interior as well.
Mollicone notes the added cozy “chill corner” with couches, a bookshelf, and board games, as well as an outdoor patio set for the warmer months.
When it comes to the menu, they introduced espresso-based drinks, matcha lattes, and expanded their sandwich and bagel options.
Not stopping there, they also moved into catering and school lunch programs, where just this week, Coffee Time was prepping cut vegetables and grilled cheese for students.
She says that her husband Dmitry, who’s also her business partner, has brought his own touch to the shop.
Each winter, Dmitry offers free chess lessons, and every spring he hosts complimentary bike tune-ups for the community.
“We try to give back whenever we can, whether through donations, gift cards, or fundraising partnerships,” says Mollicone.
“Running a small business certainly has its ups and downs, but we have no regrets. The support we’ve received from this community has been incredible, and we’re proud of what Coffee Time continues to represent: a place that’s part of Bolton’s daily rhythm, built by and for the people who call this town home.”
