If you can sing, you can be part of a magical Christmas event on Saturday, Dec. 23.

An area family with three young children has had a difficult time during the weeks leading up to the holiday season, including a few trips to SickKids Hospital in Toronto.

The Orangeville Christmas Nite-Lights Patrol is organizing the singing of Christmas Carol at the family’s home to make their holiday season a little brighter.

The event is growing rapidly and organizer Michelle Hartley said there is already over 50 people signed up to sing, and that number is climbing. The event has also expanded to include musicians, such as a guitarist and ukelele player. Even Santa will make an appearance at this festive event.

The Orangeville Christmas Nite-Lights Patrol began as a way of helping people view some of the best decorated homes around Halloween during the pandemic. It has since evolved to include a Christmas event where people can find out where the most spectacular Christmas decorations are set up around town.

The Orangeville Christmas Nite-Lights Patrol plans to sing 10 Christmas carols at the December 23 event. You don’t have to know the words to all the songs to take part, carollers will be using the Citizen’s own 2023 Carol Book for reference.

There is no limit to the number of singers that can participate, and it is open to all. It will take only 10 minutes of your time to participate in this Christmas memory making moment.

What’s remarkable is this event was requested by a six-year-old boy whose family has been making trips to SickKids Hospital over the past few weeks.

“Let’s thinking about this. A six-year-old boy wants this for his sister. He stared this out of love, sincere, pure love,” Ms. Hartley said.

You can be a part of this event and learn more by visiting the Orangeville Christmas Nite-Lights Patrol Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100077727480197, or by going to Facebook and searching for Orangeville Christmas Nite-Lights Patrol.

You can send a message to sign up and you will be given more details, including the address of the event and time the sing will take place.

The family receiving this holiday gift does not need any presents for the children to be donated.

However, there will be an opportunity to help the local food bank at the event.

The event will take place on a cul de sac, with parking at Spencer Avenue Elementary School.

Organizers are also looking for student volunteers to assist with parking and related duties.
