A vehicle speeding though Caledon village April 5 resulted in two people being charged.
Caledon OPP reports an officer was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 10, just north of the village, when a southbound Nissan was seen moving at high speed; on the order of 113 km-h in a posted 80 zone. The officer tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver tried to get away, driving on the shoulder and making an abrupt turn onto Mistywood Drive, before running away on foot.
Police confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen from Brampton March 15.
Officers located the vehicle on Mistywood and found a passenger who was attempting to flee. She also apparently tried to mislead the investigation by providing false information to officers. Subsequently, the 18-year-old woman from Shelburne was arrested. A search of the area for the driver of the vehicle resulted in him being found at a local convenience store.
The 22-year-old Brampton man was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, flight while pursued by a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and Highway Traffic Act offences. The woman was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, obstructing a peace officer and a Highway Traffic Act offence.
