The Town of Caledon has announced the recent appointment of Richard Murdoch as Deputy Fire Chief with Caledon Fire and Emergency Services.

Murdoch will be taking over the position from Deputy Chief Dan Rowland, who is retiring on December 5 after 37 years of service.

The Town of Caledon shared that Murdoch has nearly 30 years of experience from Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, where he served in a variety of leadership roles, including Acting Fire Chief, Deputy Chief of Operations and Training, and Division Chief of Training.

“Throughout his career, he has built a strong reputation for leading with integrity, supporting his teams, and driving innovation to enhance fire service delivery and community safety,” says the Town.

He has a Fire Service Executive Management Certificate from Humber College and a Certificate in Emergency Management, Threat, and Response Planning from Toronto Metropolitan University.

Murdoch also has numerous professional certifications in fire service leadership and emergency management.

“We’re excited to welcome Richard to our leadership team. His operational expertise and collaborative approach will help us continue to evolve as we serve Caledon’s growing population,” said Fire Chief Dave Pelayo. “He understands what it takes to support firefighters in doing their best work and keeping our community safe.”

Murdoch will officially join Caledon Fire and Emergency Services on November 24.
