CALEDON RESIDENT WINS RECENT ENCORE DRAW Catherine Magermans of Caledon is celebrating after winning $100,000 with Encore in the Dec. 12 Lotto Max. “I was Christmas shopping and decided to go to the gas station to check my ticket,” recalled Magermans. “I scanned the ticket in the self-checker. When it said I was a winner I thought it was a mistake.” She asked the store employee to validate her ticket. “That’s when the words ‘Big Winner’ appeared on the screen,” she said. “We received a call from OLG at the store and a redemption slip was printed.” Still in shock, the long-time lottery player phoned her husband. “He was calm but he couldn’t believe it!” The winning ticket was purchased in Brampton.
