Bethell Hospice awarded $84,500 Trillium Grant

Caledon’s Bethell Hospice was awarded a Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation on September 11.

The Capital grant stream is part of the Government of Ontario’s plan to “protect the province” by investing community infrastructure, support local organizations and help to create long-term growth and prosperity.

The total amount awarded was $84,500 and will go towards six months of work at Bethell Hospice to make changes to its garden, with accessible furnishings and upgrades, making it a safe and inclusive outdoor space for both the residents and family members.

Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones joined the Bethell Hospice staff and volunteers to announce the grant.

“This funding through the Ontario Trillium Foundation will support Bethell Hospice in creating a welcoming space for local residents in hospice care and help them continue to deliver the high calibre of care they are known for and have provided for years,” says Jones. “As our government expands access to hospice and palliative care, investments like this reinforce the vital role of homes like Bethell Hospice in our communities.”

Through this Trillium funding, Bethell Hospice will be able to make the necessary changes to their landscape and surrounding environment.

While Bethell Hospice receives annual funding from both the Ministry of Health and the Bethell Hospice Foundation, as well as its many donors and supporters for its operating costs, these funds help make necessary upgrades for both residents and family members.

Bethell Hospice Executive Director Margaret Paan said she is incredibly grateful for all the support that the OTF has provided and is looking forward to the new changes that this fund will be able to bring to the Hospice.

Our beautiful environment and landscape are part of what makes Bethell Hospice so special,” says Paan. “This meaningful funding will have lasting impact in ensuring our beautiful garden and outdoor spaces are updated, welcoming and accessible for our residents and loved ones today and for years to come.”
