Albion Hills Community Farm will celebrate United Nation’s World Environment Day June 5 by hosting its annual general meeting.
The guest speaker will be best-selling Canadian author Sarah Elton, who will talk about her new book Consumed: Food for a Finite Planet.
“Albion Hills Community Farm has pledged to participate in the United Nation’s campaign ‘Greening the Blue,’” said Community Farm President Barb Imrie. “Its message to reduce your footprint reflects the farm’s vision of supporting the local food system and building community spaces for growing food.”
In Consumed, Elton reports on the efforts of people in cities and on farms around the world, who are putting together a new way of feeding the world that is resilient to the inevitable shocks of climate change. She tells the untold stories of this massive, but little-known, global social movement that is changing all aspects of food.
There will be a book-signing at 6:30 p.m., followed by the talk at 7 and the meeting at 8.
It will be at Palgrave Community Kitchen at 34 Pine Ave., Palgrave
Albion Hills Community Farm, is a non-profit farm that advances understanding of local food and sustainable agriculture through education, conservation and community partnerships.
