“This is kind of what you dreamed about when you moved to a place like Inglewood,” says Breanne Cole while sitting with her husband, Geoffrey Cole and their kids at this year’s first Movie in the Park.
The Town of Caledon is running Movies in the Park again this year, providing families and residents the opportunity to join them at sunset to watch a feature film under the stars.
For the Cole family, it’s about a lot more than just the movie.
Their daughter, Georgia, is five, and their son is one.
The family shared that not only do they see their friends, but Georgia gets to see all her classmates.
“I’m here to meet my friends!” Georgia enthusiastically shared.
The Cole family moved to Inglewood almost 10 years ago, and said they met many of their friends through events like this.
“It’s a good reason for the whole neighborhood to get together and spend some time together,” shared Geoffrey.
For some, Movies in the Park is not only a reunion with friends, but with family as well.
Mitch and Jess Theeuwen attended the event with their son to spend time with their family in town.
For Mitch, growing up in Inglewood and now living out of town, the event brings the opportunity for them to get together with his parents.
Their son came prepared for that night’s movie of Paddington in Peru, holding his very own Paddington Bear.
The Village of Inglewood Association (VIA) had the snack bar stocked for the evening, selling ice cream, but also giving popcorn and cookies away for free.
Jeff Theeuwen from VIA shared that their focus is not only on what they can raise, but also on what they can give back to the community.
He said the VIA partners with the Town of Caledon’s Movie Night, which allows them to leverage cost efficiencies associated with event delivery while also enhancing the overall amenities and experience for attendees.
The VIA holds various events throughout the year, such as pumpkin carving and tree lighting.
In September, they will begin running a barbecue alongside Movies in the Park to enhance the overall experience further.
Movies in the Park will continue to run through September and October.
