Caledon OPP have released the name of the woman who was killed in Friday’s accident on Mayfield Road, just east of Airport Road. Else Nielsen, 84, of Ajax was pronounced dead at the scene. Constable Brenda Evans reported police learned of the incident at about 12:22 p.m. Preliminary investigation indicated the woman’s car had been on the south shoulder of the road, then tried to make a U-turn and pulled into the path of an eastbound tractor trailer. The driver of the truck evidently tried to take evasive action, but ended up pushing the car over onto the south shoulder. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information to contact them at 905-584-2241.
