VILLANOVICH IS SENIOR OF THE YEAR At its June 23 meeting, Caledon council presented long-time Bolton resident Aldo Villanovich with the 2015 Senior of the Year Award. “It was an honour for me today to present the 2015 Senior Citizen of the Year award to a very deserving resident of Caledon and great Canadian, Aldo Villanovich,” said Mayor Allan Thompson. “Aldo is a shining example of compassion, kindness and community stewardship that reaches well beyond our borders.” Villanovich has championed many organizations, charities and community projects within Caledon and beyond, including Bolton Hockey Executive, Kinsmen Club of Bolton, Cystic Fibrosis Association, Rick Hansen Run, Santa Claus Parade Committee, Bolton Rib Fest, Peace Park, Bus Shelters, Highway 50 Planters, etc. He also worked on many global charities and projects, including water and sanitation projects in Guatemala, Haiti and Honduras; Upgrades for 13 schools in Guatemala; First Nations bunkbed project; Sleeping Children Around the World (to end the spread of Malaria); hospital equipment sent to Belize, Polio Plus, etc. Photo by Bill Rea
