TOWN WANTS HENRY TO HAVE HERITAGE DESIGNATION

August 17, 2013   ·   0 Comments

TOWN WANTS HENRY TO HAVE HERITAGE DESIGNATION Heritage Caledon is looking for trees in town worthy of designation for their historic significance, and they believe the tree known a Henry qualifies. Henry is a healthy elm tree on the south side of Charleston Sideroad, about half way between St. Andrew’s and Mountainview Roads, and the Town is willing to enter into an agreement to pick up the costs of its preservation. Caledon council recently passed a motion to that effect, pointing out Henry was one of the few survivors of Dutch Elm Disease that devastated thousands of trees that once shaded local roads.
