Town calling for nominations to recognize ‘green’ leadership

The Town of Caledon will be recognizing a local business for its contribution to the environment Oct. 23.
It will take place at the Mayor’s Business Breakfast.
The Town of Caledon Green Business Award will be presented to a small business (20 or fewer employees) that has taken internal and/or external action to reduce its impact on the environment and to improve the community.
Businesses can be self or peer nominated for a variety of actions, from innovative recycling programs, to renewable energy use to sustainable transportation initiatives. Small businesses can play a big role in protecting and enhancing Caledon’s environment, and deserve to be recognized for their efforts.
The application can be found at www.caledon.ca/environment and must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Sept. 20. The Town strongly encourages eligible businesses to apply.
Criteria for the Green Business Award includes the incorporation of sustainability and climate change into business organization; the sale of certified environmental products or services; concrete examples of environmental results; and community education and outreach on “green” issues.
The Green Business Award is a great opportunity to be recognized as a leader in front of the Caledon business community. More than 200 local business owners will be in attendance at the Mayor’s Business Breakfast for the award presentation.
