David Tilson was officially sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon during a ceremony at the House of Commons in Ottawa last Friday.
The ceremony was conducted by the deputy clerk and was attended by members of Tilson’s family.
Tilson was re-elected in the Oct. 19 general election, following the 78-day campaign. First elected federally in 2004, Tilson was re-elected in 2006, 2008 and 2011. During the most recent Parliament, he served as Chair of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration and as the President of the Canada-Europe Parliamentary Association.
“I am grateful for the support of the citizens of Dufferin-Caledon, who have again asked me to serve as their representative in Ottawa,” Tilson said following the ceremony. “I am looking forward to the resumption of Parliament this week with the election of a new Speaker and the Speech from the Throne.”48-tilson - 5.5
