Dufferin-Caledon MP David Tilson last week signed a banner on behalf of his constituents that will be presented to the Canadian Olympic Committee this month in Sochi, Russia. “Canada is sending a stellar team to Sochi for the Winter Olympics this year to follow up on our tremendous success coming out of Vancouver in 2010,” Tilson said. “I hope this banner, signed by MPs from all parties, will provide some extra inspiration for our athletes.” Canada set a record in Vancouver by winning more gold medals than any other country in a single games in Winter Olympic history. Canada’s Own the Podium program, which has been a driving force behind Canada’s continued evolution to a world-leading sport nation, is funded extensively by the federal government, in addition to funding invested by the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee.
