For the 15th consecutive year, the Region of Peel has won the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The Award, which recognizes excellence in governmental accounting and financial reporting, was established to encourage municipal governments throughout Canada to publish high quality financial reports.
The Region received the award for its 2015 Annual Financial Report. The Report was commended for its “constructive spirit of full disclosure” and clear communication of the municipality’s financial story. The online Report is also AODA compliant, which is unique for municipalities.
“This award is a testament to the Region’s Finance team for their commitment to financial stewardship and transparent reporting,” Regional Chair Frank Dale said. “I would like to thank the GFOA for their recognition. We look forward to doing even more to keep residents and stakeholders informed about the Region’s continued financial health and prudent use of taxpayers’ dollars.”
