In the April 17 edition of the Caledon Citizen, there was a story about the Town of Caledon’s plans to change its Animal Control Bylaw.
Apparently, the Town hosted a public information meeting on the matter, but there was little public comment at the meeting. I found the lack of public input most unfortunate, considering the number of pet owners in Caledon who are affected by the animal bylaws.
As the Town is not scheduling any more public meetings, I would like to suggest that anyone interested in commenting on the changes, or participating in a citizens’ Animal Shelter Working Group, contact me at rjburr@idirect.com with their comments and/or suggestions. If enough people are interested, we could organize our own meeting to discuss both the proposed changes to the bylaws and other changes that people would like to see. We could then make our own presentation directly to council.
As I understand it, the revised bylaw might be presented to council as early as the May 28 meeting, and so it is important that anyone who is interested contact me as soon as possible.
Robert Burr,
Caledon
