A 23-year-old man from Mono is facing charges after Caledon OPP spotted a northbound BMW on the shoulder of Airport Road July 13.
Police report the incident took place shortly before 9:45 a.m. when officers saw the car on the shoulder near Patterson Sideroad. A check of the plate revealed the validation tag had expired, so they had the car stopped.
Upon speaking with the male driver, officers immediately detected a strong swell of alcohol on his breath, and they made further observations of indicators of a person under the influence of alcohol.
The driver produced a sample of his breath on a roadside screening device, and the test registered a fail, so he was arrested. As well, during the investigation, police found a quantity of drugs, believed to be marijuana, inside the car.
The man was charged with driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system, and possession of a schedule II substance. His licence was lifted on the spot and the car was impounded for seven days.
