PAMA going back to the future this summer

July 20, 2015   ·   0 Comments

“Can you imagine your community in 2035?”
This is the question the Region of Peel is asking residents through a free interactive exhibit at the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) this summer.
The exhibit encourages visitors to express their current priorities and define their vision for the future. It is part of the Region’s community engagement efforts to develop a new 20-year community vision informed by the voice of Peel residents.
Visit PAMA this Saturday (July 18) for a “Back to the Future” grand opening celebration, featuring replicas from the Hollywood movie, Back to the Future, including the iconic DeLorean car; outdoor performances by local DJs, including eight-year-old Brampton DJ Dextrous One; art battles pitting local artists against each other in a rapid draw-off for the best image of the future; a singing and dancing “street team;” and art activities for children and a future-themed scavenger hunt.
The event starts at 11 a.m. with opening remarks from Regional councillors and staff. Family-friendly activities run until 4 p.m.
PAMA is at 9 Wellington St., E., in Brampton. Parking is available at Brampton City Hall.
The exhibit, which runs until Sept. 6, will encourage visitors to share what they value most today and what they envision for the future of their community. Interactive features include a video booth time machine, an imagination station with an idea waterfall, and a kids’ zone dedicated to creating artifacts from the future.
As part of the Region’s community engagement outreach, admission to PAMA will be free until Sept. 6 for individuals, families and small groups. Group rates will still apply. Call PAMA at 905-791-4055 for more information.
