New no-parking zone near Caledon village

July 17, 2014   ·   0 Comments

A parking prohibition will be established in an area near Caledon village, by the Lafarge Canada gravel pit.
Caledon Council recently approved this by-law on recommendation of Town staff. The new no-parking zone will be on the north and south sides of Charleston Sideroad, from 120 metres west of Willoughby Road to 25 metres west of Kevinwood Drive. The prohibition will be between 5 and 7:30 a.m. Monday to Saturday.
Staff chose this area because they observed up to nine trucks, several of which were towing long trailers, queuing for the Lafarge Canada gravel pit prior to its opening. These trucks were parked along the side of the roads east and west of Willoughby on the north side, and obscured vision of vehicles approaching the Willoughby and Charleston intersection. The prohibited zone will extend to the south to prevent trucks from potentially parking along the south shoulder since it has similar dimensions.
