There’s a new captain at the helm of Caledon’s finances.

On April 27, the Town of Caledon announced it had hired David Sutton as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Director of Finance.

Caledon’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Carey Herd said she was pleased to welcome Sutton to Caledon’s senior leadership team. She explained he has 20 years of professional experience in financial management.

“He was an integral part in ensuring long-term financial sustainability and flexibility in his former positions and successfully implemented process improvements that enhanced operational effectiveness and modernized the customer service experience,” said Herd. “David’s experience will be an asset to the Corporation as we continue to manage the future growth of Caledon.”

Prior to his new role with the Town of Caledon, Sutton worked as the Treasurer and Director of Financial Planning at the City of Brampton. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree.

“David brings extensive knowledge to the Director, Finance and Chief Financial Officer position,” said Herd.

Sutton’s first day of work with the Town will be May 15. He will succeed Myuran Palasandiran, who was hired by the Town as CFO and Director of Finance on July 26, 2021.

The CFO oversees purchasing, risk management, asset management, and the Town’s finances among other duties.
