Mayor Marolyn Morrison — Caledon Breast Cancer Foundation Circle of Hope coming April 14

March 27, 2013   ·   0 Comments

April is Cancer Month in Ontario.
Cancer not only threatens your health, it threatens your spirit.
In helping to understand the intangible consequences of this dreaded disease, the Caledon Breast Cancer Foundation is stepping forward to host a first-ever event in our community.
The Foundation will host its first Circle of Hope April 14. This event will bring together people who have been touched by cancer; family members, friends and the community. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Sandy Sehdev, the director of Clinical Trials and Oncology Education and director of the Cancer Advocacy Coalition of Canada at William Osler Heath Centre. In addition, cancer support agencies will be on-site for questions and information. This event is another way the Caledon Breast Cancer Foundation is working to improve the lives of those affected by this terrible disease.
The Circle of Hope is a gathering for those diagnosed with any cancer, along with their friends and families, to share stories of hope and survival. It is an event filled with laughter, education, and tears.
As some of you know, my husband John was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma almost five years ago. I can assure you, it was a shocking diagnosis for our whole family. Fortunately, through early detection and prompt and effective treatment, John’s cancer is in remission. We are pleased to have the opportunity to share our story at the first Circle of Hope event in Caledon.
If you or a loved one has been touched by cancer, we invite you to join us for the Caledon Circle of Hope at the Caledon Senior Centre, 7 Rotarian Way in Bolton. The event runs from 3 to 6 p.m. and a minimal $10 donation to the Caledon Breast Cancer Foundation is suggested. For more information and to reserve your seat, please contact Rosa Alvarez at 905-857-1045 or by e-mail at ralvarez@bellnet.ca
Refreshments will be served.caledon_mayor_morrison
