There was plenty of snow, meaning just as much fun Monday for the third annual SnowFest, put on by the Caledon Agricultural Society. One of the highlights was the Firefighters’ challenge, but before they got a chance at it, ambassadors from various other agriculture societies took to the track to show their stuff in the Agri-Turf Ambassador Challenge. The host society was represented by Past Junior Fair Ambassador Julie French and current Ambassador Patrick Forster.

Shannon Javs and Lillian Zijlstra Caledon Hills Fellowship Baptist Chuch were working on this entry in the Chlly Cook-Off.

Sharon and David Lambert were representing Knox United Church in the Chilly Cook-Off.

Lots of kids at SnowFest had a great time climbing this mountain of snow.

There were a number of displays on the site. Caledon OPP Constable Marianne Burgene and Valerie Arnold-Judge were handing out information on the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program.

Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones and MP David Tilson got to ride into the grounds in style, courtesy of Zen Slipenkyj of the Orangeville Snowmobile Club.

James Dick Construction was the presenting sponsor of SnowFest. James Dick Vice-President Greg Sweetnam was on hand to greet the crowds.

This piece of firefighting equipment provided a bird’s eye view of the grounds. Firefighter Glenn MacLachlan of the Caledon village station went aloft to get some overhead shots.

The Orangeville Snowmobile Club had a collection of their machines on display, and they impressed Nolan Levy, 4, of Caledon village.

The Caledon Agricultural Society won the medal in the Chilly Cook-Off. Glenda Simeone was showing off the medal.

Councillor Patti Foley represented Mayor Marolyn Morrison at the opening ceremonies.

Peter Marr of Hensall Ice Culture was hard at work on this carving.

It wasn’t quite as bad as it looks. On a signal, people at SnowFest were asked to drop and make snow angels on the ground. These firefighters obliged.

Caledon Hills Cycling offered people the chance to give snowshoeing a try. Palgrave resident Michelle Cheeseman and her children Ashley, 9, and Myles, 5, took advantage.

When it came to the Agri-Turf Ambassador Challenge, the contingent from Acton came out on top. The winning team was Miss Acton Jordan Lenz and First Runner-Up Rebecca Nelles.

Wood carver Kevin Pinkney from French River attracted lots of attention as he worked on his creation of this critter.

The Rotary Club of Palgrave were offering up their jambalaya in the Chilly Cook-Off. Helen Dean, Darrell Hudspeth and Sophie Potter were helping to serve it.
