Lifetree Café will resume this coming Wednesday

Lifetree Café will be resuming after its summer break this Wednesday (Sept. 4) at St. James Church in Caledon East.
The topic this week will be “Children with no place to call home: Helping kids in crisis,” and the discussion will explore the impact of homelessness on children. The program will feature a filmed visit with homeless children and their parents, as well as with agency workers who assist homeless children. An estimated one in 50 children is homeless. Approximately 40 per cent of those children are five or younger.
“We see children who have lived in a car or outside, or who have spent time living from shelter to shelter, or hotel to hotel,” commented Jennifer Herrera, executive director of Colfax Community Network, a homeless-outreach agency. “It makes me angry because we can do better.”
This program will run from 7 until 8 p.m., and admission is free. Snacks and beverages will be available.
Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual coffeehouse-type setting. Questions may be directed to Bruce Neville at 416-579-9977 or Desiree Neville at 416-579-6748.
