Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones MPP recently attended the Investiture Ceremony, where former MPP and cabinet minister Isabel Bassett was appointed to the Order of Ontario.
The Order of Ontario website stated Bassett has served the people of Ontario throughout her career, first as a high school teacher, and then as a journalist, writer, broadcaster and member of the Ontario Legislature — all of which made her well-suited for the role of Chair and CEO of TVOntario.
“Isabel is an outstanding individual who has given back to our province throughout her career,” Jones said. “She has been a supporter and mentor for me throughout my political career, and I was honoured to attend today’s ceremony recognizing her appointment to the Order of Ontario.”
“I want to congratulate Isabel for receiving this great distinction, an acknowledgement of her commitment to Ontario,” she added.
The Order of Ontario is the province’s highest honour. It was established in 1986 as a means for the Province to honour those Ontarians who exemplify the highest qualities of achievement and excellence, and whose contributions enrich the lives of their fellow men and women in the province, Canada and the world.
