Members of the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint, leading officers to charge a driver with impaired operation.
“On April 5, 2025, shortly after 10:00 p.m., Caledon OPP responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Mayfield Road and Bramalea Road, in the Town of Caledon,” say Police. “The vehicle was described as being operated in a concerning manner. Officers located the vehicle and met with the driver. During the interaction, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, leading to the driver’s arrest.”
As a result of the investigation, Jose Sacramento, 47, of Caledon, was charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);
Operation while impaired – alcohol.
The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on April 24, 2025, to answer to the charge. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.
The charges have not been proven.

Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Caledon resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of a R.I.D.E. program.
“On April 4, 2025, just before 11:00 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check in the area of Townline in the Town of Orangeville,” say Police. “A vehicle entered the area and was met by the officers. After a brief conversation, the officers were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.
Spiridione Zammit, a 69-year-old male, from Caledon has been charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.
The charge has not been proven.

Investigation
Officers from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a break and enter of a residence in Tottenham.
“On April 4, 2025, at 8:32 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a residential break in at 12 Sydie Lane, In the Town of New Tecumseth,” say Police. “Upon arrival, officers located the basement window to be pried open and determined there had been a break and enter. Suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that the home owner arrived home from work at approximately 8:15 p.m., and entered through the garage and into a mudroom at which time noticed that clothes had been thrown all over the floor from the drying machine and a safe had been taken from the home.
“Home surveillance shows what appears to be two males exiting through the front door at 4:48 p.m., One male is seen carrying the safe wrapped in a blanket, then what is believed to be a black Ford Escape is also observed backing into the driveway at which time a third male is observed exiting the driver side of the vehicle to assist. Video in the area also shows a female walking around the residence on a cell phone near the address at approximately 4:24 p.m. that officers are looking to speak with.”
Suspect 1: is described as male, wearing a black jacket/hoodie, black pants, black shoes, black crossbody bag, black gloves, black hat, surgical mask.
Suspect 2: is described as male with tan skin, wearing a beige/black jacket, grey track pants, brown shoes, grey toque, surgical mask,
Suspect 3: The driver: is described as male, wearing a grey jacket, black hat, surgical mask, and black pants.
Suspect 4: is described as female, wearing white pants, surgical mask, black jacket, black shoes, pink hijab.
Investigations are still ongoing, Police are encouraging residents to review their camera footage or dash cam for any suspicious activity that may be helpful in this investigation between 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on April 4, 2025.
