Hawks collect 48,000 pounds of food

The Caledon Hawk Rep Hockey Association (CRHA) once again this year paired with the Mississauga Steelheads (OHL Shutout Hunger) and Caledon Community Services to alleviate hunger right here at home.
The massive two-day Hawks 4Hunger event was held at the Don Sheardown Memorial Arena in Bolton, where donations by the teams were plentiful. Cash and gift card donations alone exceeded $23,000. With the additional food collected, the consolidated total equalled to 48,880 pounds of food, which will keep the food bank shelves stocked well into 2015.
Heartfelt thanks goes to the CRHA executive team and corporate sponsors. Without them, the success of the food drive would be greatly marginalized. They include CRHA, Mississauga Steelheads, The Exchange, Big Bark Graphics, Bell, Cavalier Transportation, Garden Foods, George’s Arena Sports, The Home Depot, SignOne, Sunday Night Men’s League, United Rentals, We Are Creative Inc. and Zehrs Markets.

Seen here, surrounded by food at The Exchange at 55 Healy Rd. in Bolton are CRHA Vice-President Glen Davis, Fiona Coughlin, director of fundraising and communications for Caledon Community Services, and CRHA parent volunteer Maria Ellis. Sheryl Lowe, in charge of CRHA fundraising, is missing from the photo.
