Griffins post first win in Sunday night hockey

It took 11 starts, but the Glen Eagle Golf Club Griffins finally have a notch in the win column in the Sunday Night Hockey League standings.
They did it Nov. 26 by dropping the St. Louis Bar and Grill Wings 5-1.
The Ken’s Lawnmower Repair Blades maintained their grip on the lead in the standings with a close 5-4 decision over the Pommies Cider Co. Wild. Other games saw the Ainsley Fire Protection Fire double the Caledon Hills Brewing Co. Brewers and the Inside Out Family Chiropractic Predators blank the Mr. Handyman Ice Hogs.
Fire 4, Brewers 2
The Fire kept the flames fanned and won a fourth straight game over the Brewers.
Shane Ainsley was burning it up for the fire with the hat-trick while Tim Vokey added a single. Assists went to Jon Gingerich, Eamon Harper, Vokey and Dave DiMeo. Brewer lamp lighters were Brandon Scott from Jay Beech and Dave Matheson, and Jon McNamara from Brent Spagnol.
Predators 4, Ice Hogs 0
Alex Nordheimer stood tall and gained the shutout for the Predators over the Ice Hogs.
Predators scoring were Cam Coulter from Fab Iafano and Colin Fyffe, Howard Cantelon from Coulter and Darren Jones, Mike Desario from Coulter, and Iafano (unassisted).
Griffins 5, Wings 1
The third game of the night saw the Griffins get their first win of the year and keep the Wings grounded.
Griffin goal getters were Jesse Thompson from Lee Maunu and Matt Dowdle, Alex Schittenhelm from Thompson, Ron Toffan (unassisted), Ed Lewis from Brendan Pace and Dowdle, and Toffan from Kevin Norris. The Wings’ lone mark was Victor Ranieri from Mike Weeda and Daniel Hamlett.
Blades 5, Wild 4
The final game of November saw the Blades spill Wild.
Blades’ net nabbers were Darren Levy and Brett Appio with a pair each, and Daryll Simpson with the single, helped by Greg Fuller, Shawn Simpson, David Payne and Levy. Wild mesh mashers were Mitch Merante from Randy Isenberg and Craig Shaw, Jason Clark from Gary Morris, Shaw from Steve Brown and Merante, and Shaw from Merante and Isenberg.
Nov. 19
The previous week saw the Blades give themselves a bit of air at the top of the standings.
Blades 8, Griffins 2
The night started out with a big scoring affair, with the Blades shredding the Griffins.
Blades bin bulgers were Levy and Daryll Simpson with two each and Appio, Fuller, Shawn Simpson and Bogdan Rapan with singles. Help came from Dan Maggio, Appio, Scott Drouillard, D. Simpson and Rapan. Griffins go-to guys were Pace from Cory Schittenhelm, and Schittenhelm from Alex Schittenhelm.
Wild 7, Wings 3
The second game of the evening saw the Wings get clipped by the Wild.
Wild warriors were Steven Whitten and Isenberg with a pair each and Dan Shaw, Brown and Sean Mazurkiewicz with singles. Assists were from Whitten, Shaw, James Sheridan, Clark and Mazurkiewicz. Wings whippers were Jody Spagnol from Mike DeFrancesco, Ranieri from Spagnol and Ranieri (unassisted).
Fire 2, Ice Hogs 1
In a tight battle, Mr. Handyman were burnt by the Fire.
Fire firers were Mike Andreoli from Silvio Muraca, and Brad Wigner from Harper and Alex White. Handyman’s lone marker was Adam Minatel from Marc de Abaitua.
Brewers 9, Predators 1
The final game of the night saw the Predators get adjusted by the Brewers.
Brewer twine ticklers were Beech with the hat-trick assisted by Kevin Bowen. Predator pouncers were Coulter (unassisted), and Fyffe from Austin Brown.
