Great weather for the 158th Bolton Fall Fair

There was great weather and lots of fun over the weekend as the Albion and Bolton Agricultural Society hosted the 158th edition of Bolton Fall Fair. The opening ceremonies included the crowning of the Junior and Senior Fair Ambassadors. Outgoing Junior Ambassador Callie Dowds took over the Senior duties from Ashley Harding, and then placed the crown on her successor as Junior Ambassador Kayla Emmerton. Photos by Bill Rea

There were many interesting animals at the Fair and lots of people on hand to meet them. Carrie Lagace of Caledon East gave a boost to her son Liam Lagace-Froude, 4, as he fed a cracker to this miniature Sicilian donkey in the petting area.

Representatives of the Backyard Axe Throwing League (BATL) were introducing people at the Fair to the art of throwing axes. Bolton residents Doug Hietkamp and Corrie Fuller were in competition with each other in target practice. Hietkamp won.

One of the highlights Saturday was the draw for the 2016 Lincoln MKC SUV, which was raffled off in support of the Bethell Hospice Foundation ‘Caring for Our Community’ Lottery. Hospice Board Member Syd Harmon, Daniela Mosca, business development manager with Lincoln Canada, and Bob Fines of Fines Ford Lincoln in Bolton were on hand for the drawing of the winning ticket. The car was won by Peter Olar of Caledon.

There were several categories in the Pet Show. Rowan Mainprize, 10, of Beeton was showing Apricot, who won the prize for being the biggest cat in the show.
