It took little time last month for Peel Regional councillors to approve the request for holiday exemption for Garden Foods in Bolton.
The report to council from Regional staff stated the proprietors of the store were seeking exemption under the Retail Business Holidays Act to remain open Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day and Thanksgiving Day.
A public meeting on the matter was held before Regional council Feb. 14. The staff report on the meeting stated there no one spoke in opposition to the request at that session. There were two written submissions in opposition.
The staff report did not put forth a position or recommendation. It simply pointed out this was a policy matter for council to decide upon.
