If you’re looking for something to do with your family this winter break, you may want to check out the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA).

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., December 27 to January 3 in the PAMA studio, there will be a number of art projects to take part in.

On December 27, residents can join artist Meegan Lim for an apple craft inspired by her Apple a Day banners at PAMA.

On December 30, residents can create yarn art inspired by the warm knitwear of Newfoundland.

On January 2, a comfort food-themed craft will take place, and on January 3, residents can design a winter card with watercolour paint.

All of these art projects are free with the price of admission to PAMA.

From 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on December 28, PAMA will host a day of folk tales and music.

“Compliment your winter holidays with a day of coziness and family fun. Enjoy a captivating collection of folktales performed by professional storyteller Laxmi Balaji, centered on themes of community and family. Each of Laxmi’s performances is filled with enchanting stories, lively rhymes, and joyful songs that will transport you to magical worlds while celebrating the spirit of togetherness,” says the Region online.

“Continue the cozy escape and immerse yourself in the whimsical tales performed by balladeers from the Brampton Folk Club, including adventures of Robin Hood put to song. Then, create your own homey jigsaw puzzle inspired by works in PAMA’s Art Gallery.”

These activities are also included with general admission.

PAMA has a number of interesting exhibitions on right now: Unveiling Ability: Empowerment Through Art; All Aboard! The Railways of Peel; Stories of Home: Finding Community and Belonging in Peel; Youth on Reconciliation; In Love and Art: Jim Reid, Gina Rorai, Peggy Taylor, David Urban; David Blackwood, Ode to Newfoundland; and Apple A Day.

On Thursday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays this winter break, residents can request a guided tour of PAMA from one of its visitor service guides.

PAMA is a place to learn about Peel’s diverse culture and heritage and is located at 9 Wellington Street East in Brampton. To learn more about it, residents can visit its website, pama.peelregion.ca.
