Editorial — Make sure you vote next Thursday

Next Thursday is election day in Ontario.
Many of us spend a great deal of time and energy complaining about the way things are run in our society. We especially grumble at the amount of money we have to pay in taxes, and we sometimes gripe that we don’t good value for the money we pay out to run government.
There is no shortage of issues that should be holding the attention of people. Do we get the quality of health care that we believe we’re paying for? Are our children being educated to the standard for what we are paying, and to a degree that they will be able to take their place as the up and coming generation?
Has the Provincial government handled the issue of gas plants properly? Are plans to cut out thousands of public service jobs an example of good policy?
Provincially, which of the parties offers the plans and policies that will be the most benefit to Ontario? Locally, which candidate is going to provide you with the best representation at Queen’s Park?
No answer? You have no opinion? You don’t care?
They you’ve got a problem.
This will be your chance to have your opinion count, yet there are many in our society (actually too many) who don’t take advantage of this. That’s especially upsetting when one considers there are many in the world who only dream of having a hand in choosing their government.
Mayor Marolyn Morrison brought the issue up at the Business Breakfast she hosted this week, as she urged people to get out and vote.
“We have that freedom and right in this country,” she said.
What more can be said?
