The 2014 Grown in Peel guide is now available, listing places in the region where fresh produce can be found.
“Get active by visiting local farms, retailers and markets to see what they have to offer,” advised Dr. David Mowat, Medical Officer of Health for the Region of Peel. “Pick up your favourite vegetables or fruit or try something new at one of the many places listed in the Grown in Peel guide.”
Grown in Peel has something for everyone, from pick-your-own strawberries to corn mazes.
Visit GrownInPeel.ca to see the seasonal availability of nearly 50 vegetables and fruit that are grown by Peel farmers. There is also an interactive map and a listing for each location showing which products are available. Pick up a paper copy of the guide at a local municipal building, recreation centre or library.
The Grown in Peel, Buy Fresh initiative is a collaborative project of the Peel Agricultural Advisory Working Group, Peel Federation of Agriculture, Caledon Countryside Alliance, Town of Caledon, Cities of Brampton and Mississauga, and the Region.
