The Davis Centre in Bolton needs a new bus, and they now have the necessary funds to get it.
That was the cause fo a celebration recently at the centre, which was run in the style of a baby shower.
Mayor Allan Thompson was on hand for the celebration, commenting that raising the necessary funds was a combined effort, involving businesses and community groups.
Some of the funds came from the Udder hockey tournament that was held in Caledon East last month. Councillor Nick deBoer was on hand, along with Lyn Malcher to present a cheque for $10,003.88. The tournament was held in memory of deBoer’s wife Donna, who died four years ago.
Councillor Annette Groves was also there, and had plenty of praise for the centre, commenting “it’s full of energy.”
“What makes this a great place is the volunteers,” she added. “When the call went out, we went out to the community.”
