The arts are going to be in for special recognition this year as the founder of the DAREarts charitable foundation will be getting a stone on Caledon’s Walk of Fame.
Marilyn Field is this year’s inductee.
DAREarts is an organization that has had significant impact at the local, national and international level by bringing the arts to children from all walks of life. Field has been a conductor, music and arts teacher, and an active volunteer with local and national charitable organizations, including Theatre Orangeville’s Board of Directors, the Headwaters Health Care Centre Fundraising Committee and the Canadian Opera Company. She has also received the Canada Meritorious Service Medal (2003) and The Queen’s Jubilee Medal (2003).
The Caledon Walk of Fame Ceremony will be June 15 at 11 a.m. at the Trans Canada Trail Pavilion Park. That is when Field’s stone will be unveiled, alongside past honourees that include sports entrepreneur Conn Smythe, art collectors Robert and Signe McMichael, writer Farley Mowat, choral conductor Elmer Iseler and film director Norman Jewison.
The Trans Canada Trail Pavilion Park is in Caledon East on the Caledon Trailway, west side of Airport Road, just south of Emma Street and Old Church Road.
