Steve Conforti has devoted a lot of energy over the years to serving his community.
Now he’s interested in trying it from the Caledon Council table.
Conforti, 39, said he is planning to run for the area council seat for Ward 5 (Bolton) in this fall’s municipal election. He is interested in replacing Rob Mezzapelli, who has announced he will not be seeking re-election.
A life-long Bolton resident, Conforti owns and operates the marketing company We Are Creative. He’s also been involved in various groups and organizations in the community, including the Sunday Night Hockey League. He also helped organize the first Cheers Caledon last year.
“My history shows I’ve done a lot already for the community,” he added.
This will be, however, the first time he’s entered the political arena.
“It’s a good opportunity for me and it’s a good time for me,” the father of two sons remarked.
Conforti noted there’s currently a lot of infighting on council, and he would like to see more transparency if elected.
“There are different stories all over the place,” he said. “Let’s get the truth out with all these issues.”
He is looking with some confidence at his chances for election, commenting he has a lot of contacts in the local business, sports and social community.
He was also happy to have the support of Mezzapelli.
“I appreciate any wisdom and knowledge he can share with me,” he said.
