November 25, 2015   ·   0 Comments

Caledon Chamber Concerts will present the Serenade Ensemble in the second concert of the 2015-2016 series Dec. 12 at 8 p.m.
Violinist Arkady Yanivker and pianist Elina Kelebeev will present a program that includes works by Johannas Brahms, Fritz Kreisler and Niccolo Paganini.
Much in demand as a violin soloist and ensemble performer, Yanivker’s first major solo appearance was at the age of 13 with the Odessa Symphony Orchestra in the U.S.S.R. He came to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) in 1978, where he became well-known on the music scene as a violin soloist and chamber player. During his tenure with the TSO, Yanivker served as concertmaster of the Toronto Philharmonia Orchestra, and guest concertmaster for the Kitchener Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Huntsville Festival Orchestra and New Canadian Chamber Orchestra.
Kelebeev has graced Canadian and international stages since the age of 12, when she became the highest-scoring prize-winner of the Canadian Music Competitions. A laureate of competitions, including the Chopin International in Gottingen, this multi-faceted young artist is also a sought-after chamber musician. In 2005, Kelebeev co-founded Music Heals, a charity concert series that has benefited World Vision Canada and Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital. In 2008, she became the only pianist to be awarded a full scholarship by the Centre of Opera Studies in Sulmona (Italy).
The concert will be at St. James’ Church, Caledon East. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for students 16 years and younger, and may be purchased at BookLore, Forster’s Book Garden and Howard the Butcher. Tickets will also be available at the door.
