CN announced recently its support of paediatric care in Brampton through its 2016 Miracle Match program and pledged to match funds raised through William Osler Health System (Osler) Foundation’s You Have the Power Campaign up to $300,000.
The Osler Foundation’s selection as a beneficiary of the CN Miracle Match program was officially announced at the Osler Open: Brampton Invitational golf tournament at Lionhead Golf Club. Joining CN for the announcement were representatives from William Osler Health System, Osler Foundation and Brampton Mayor Linda Jeffrey.
“At CN, we are deeply committed to giving back to the communities that we serve and we are very proud of the support we have been able to give to hospitals through the CN Miracle Match program,” said Keith Reardon, vice-president of Intermodal at CN. “We are thrilled to announce that Osler Foundation is the Eastern Canada recipient of the 2016 CN Miracle Match Program and look forward to helping to improve the quality of health care available to children and their families across Brampton and beyond.”
CN Miracle Match is a national charitable initiative that CN launched in 2006, which rallies communities across Canada behind a very worthy cause — supporting children’s health care.
“The CN matching gift will help our youngest and most vulnerable patients by encouraging the community to give to our paediatric program through the You Have the Power Campaign,” Foundation President and CEO Ken Mayhew commented. “Osler has the third highest paediatric volumes in the province and expertise in virtually every paediatric speciality. CN’s extraordinary gift, and the gifts it will inspire, will make a huge difference to paediatric care at Brampton Civic and, very soon, the new Peel Memorial, which will provide specialized care to young patients and their families through extensive outpatient clinics, a new urgent care centre, and day surgery program.”
The You Have the Power Campaign is the most ambitious one Osler Foundation has ever undertaken. Contributions from businesses, such as CN, and the efforts of Foundation are vital to its success.
“Brampton is one of the fastest-growing communities in Ontario and our hospitals need to keep pace with that growth,” Jeffrey commented. “I am thrilled that CN is stepping forward to better fund paediatric care in our Brampton hospitals. This will greatly improve Osler’s ability to provide quality health care services to the residents of Brampton closer to home, and would not be possible without the generous support of organizations such as CN.”
