BIKES ABOUND IN TERRA COTTA

The Civic Holiday tradition continued Monday as cycling enthusiasts flocked to the area for the ninth annual Tour de Terra Cotta. There was no shortage of participants in the various events, and that included the 104-kilometre elite race.

The annual Tour de Terra Cotta attracted cycling enthusiasts to the village Monday. Event founder Ted Webb, who competed, is seen here with renowned Canadian Cyclist Michael Barry.
More than 100 riders, including Ted Webb, started out on the 52-km intermediate race.
The top woman performers in the 104-km elite race were Jamie Gilgen from Toronto, followed by Jennifer Stephenson of Ottawa and Julia Bradley of Caledon.
Travis Samuel of Peterborough was the winner in the 104-km elite race with a time of 2:27:49.
