An 84-year-old woman died Friday of injuries she received after being hit by a motorcycle on Airport Road.
Caledon OPP reports Suzana Krumpoles was crossing the road north of King Street when she was struck by the southbound motorcycle shortly before noon. She was being transported to hospital by ambulance and died while on the way.
The driver of the motorcycle received minor injuries.
The incident is still under investigation.
Police are reminding people that as the warm weather is here, more motorcycles will be on the local roads. They remind residents that when a motorcycle is in motion, a driver of an automobile may be unable to receive as much information about movement and speed due to the narrowness of a motorcycle, and given that a motorcycle only has a single head light. It is important to be mindful that a motorcycle can be less exposed on the roadway, particularly in relation to depth and speed perception as a result of a motorcycle being smaller in size (principally from the front) when compared to automobiles.
