Mayfield Secondary School
Tristan Peterson
The 17-year-old plays left side power on the senior girls’ volleyball team, which has made the playoffs with an undefeated record. She also played on the school’s flag football team last year. Away from school, she plays out of the Pheonix Volleyball Club in Toronto, and is planning to play next year in university in Ottawa, studying political science. The Grade 12 student lives in Caledon.
Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School
Jordan Grella
This Grade 10 student played right wing on the school’s varsity hockey team, which won at ROPSSAA. He contributed three goals and two assists in the playoffs. He said he might play field lacrosse at school in the spring. Away from school, he plays AAA hockey for the Don Mills Flyers, and he used to play house league lacrosse in Georgetown. The 15-year-old lives in Caledon East.
St. Michael Catholic Secondary School
Thomas McKeown
The 16-year-old plays centre on the school’s varsity hockey team, which has lost one game so far in the Tier 1 season. They are looking forward to the ROPSSAA final Feb. 28. In the community, he plays rep hockey for the Mississauga Rebels. The Grade 11 student lives in Bolton.
Humberview Secondary School
Ethan Mumford
This Grade 9 student plays lead on the varsity boys’ curling team, which is in first place in their division. He’s thinking of trying archery later this school year. He said he’s been curling for four years, playing in the King Curling Club in Schomberg after his mother suggested he give it a try. “I thought it was really fun,” he said. The 14-year-old lives in Bolton.
