Tight race to see who will make semis in Sunday night hockey

After six weeks of round-robin play in the Sunday Night Hockey League, the St. Louis Bar and Grill Wings are the only team to have secured a spot in the semifinals.
They tightened their grip on top spot in the standings with a 2-1 doubling of the Sports Marketing All Stars. They now have 22.5 points.
Five points are awarded per game during the round-robins. One point goes for winning a period, two points for winning the game and if a period is tied, each team gets half a point.
The Mr. Handyman Moose are second in the standings with 16.5 points after a 3-1 loss to the Inside Out Family Chiropractic Predators. The Ken’s Lawn Mower Repairs Ltd. Blades are right on their heels with 16 after playing to a 2-2 tie with Pommies Cider Co. Wild. The Predators are in fourth with 15.5, followed by the Wild with 15, the All Stars with 14 and the Ainsley Fire Protection Fire with 13.5. The Fire bested the Glen Eagle Golf Club Griffins, who trail in the standings.

Predators 3, Moose 1
The Predators took charge and handed the Moose a big loss, taking all five points.
Predator power players were Brett Appio from Shaun Heron, Mike Andreoli from Austin Brown and Appio Unassisted.
Fire 6, Griffins 4
The Griffins gave it their all this night, but just weren’t quite there and took the loss at the hands of the Fire squad, giving up four of the five points.
Fire firers were Eamon Harper from Sandro Mignosa and Alex Schittenhelm, Mark Andreoli from Mignosa, David DiMeo from Harper, Ryan Wood from Andreoli and Mignosa, Andreoli from Mignosa, and Mignosa unassisted. Griffin go-to guys were Brent Spagnol from Shane Gordon, David Ilijasic from Spagnol, Spagnol from Dave Matheson, and Spagnol from Jody Spagnol and Ilijasic.
Wings 2, All Stars 1
The game saw the Wings take it to the All Stars and squeak out a 2-1 win to get four points for their efforts.
Wing whippers were Scott McCrimmon from Derek Cleary, and Eric Webster from Victor Ranieri and Darren Levy. The Stars’ shooter was Brad Wigner from Kevin Christie and Ron Toffan.
Wild 2, Blades 2
The final game of the night saw neither team able to best the other, with each side taking 2.5 points from the other.
Wild warriors were Sean Doner from Dale Deleonardis and Marc de Abaitua, and Graham Bryson from Deleonardis and Doner. Blades’ bashers were Dan Shaw from Cam Coulter, and Mike Blackwood from Bogdan Rapan.

The previous week’s action saw the Wings maintain their lead in the standings, although the Griffins held them to a tie.

The first game of the fifth week in the series had both the Griffins and the Wings skate to a draw, splitting the points down the middle.
Wings whippers were Daniel Hamlett from Ranieri, Webster from Hamlett, and McCrimmon from Cleary. Griffins go-to guys were Mike Swan from Joe Doan, Doan from Swan and Doan (unassisted).
Blades 3,
Moose 1
In a surprise turn of events the Moose couldn’t muster much offence and fell to the sharpness of the Blades.
Blade bin-bashers were Dan Shaw from Mike Blackwood, Daryll Simpson (unassisted), and Coulter from Simpson and Shawn Simpson. The Moose main man was Steve Hutchins from James Sheridan.
Wild 5,
Predators 2
In a wild turn of events, the Wild were able to tame the Predators and take 4.5 points from them.
Wild warriors were Marc de Abaitua from Matt Moss and Justin de Abaitua, Marc de Abaitua from Moss, Moss from Justin de Abaitua, Brad Sztorc from Moss, and Darren Jones from Marc de Abaitua. Predator prowlers were Appio from Brown, and Mike Andreoli (unassisted).

All Stars 2
In the last game of the night, the Fire burned bright and extinguished the shine of the All Stars to take four points.
Fire firers were Mark Andreoli (unassisted), Andreoli from Harper, Fab Iafano from Andreoli and Alex Schittenhelm, Harper from DiMeo, and DiMeo (unassisted). Stars shooters were Steve Whitten from Steve Conforti and Kevin Norris, and Toffan from Silvio Muraca and Steve Smith.
March 5
Blades 6, Fire 1
In the first game of the night, the Blades took no prisoners in handing the Fire a hefty loss, taking 4.5 points.
Net nabbers for the Blades were Dave Gardilcic, Blackwood, Coulter, Rapan (with two) and Dan Shaw, with assists from Daryll Simpson, Rapan and Brad Harkins. Fire’s lone marksman was Mike Weeda from Harper.
Wings 8
Predators 3
The second game of the evening saw the Wings fly high and take all five from the Predators.
Wings snipers were Ranieri and Cleary with two each, Webster with three and Levy, with help from Cleary, Hamlett, Eric Humphries, Ranieri, and Mike DeFrancesco.
Predator prowlers were Heron from Colin Fyffe, Mike Andreoli from Fyffe, and Appio from Fyffe.
All Stars 4,
Wild 2
In a close match, the All Stars were able to hold off the Wild and get 4.5 points.
Leading the charge for the Stars were Ed Lewis from Christie, Norris from Conforti, Whitten (unassisted), and Toffan from Matt Dowdle. Wild bin-bulgers were Kevin Bowen (unassisted) and Justin de Abaitua from Moss.
Moose 5, Griffins 4
The final game of the night saw the Moose hold on for the win and take four points from the Griffins.
Lamp lighting for the Moose were Jay Beech from Chuck Hughes, Craig Shaw (unassisted), Shaw from Beech, Beech (unassisted), and Beech (unassisted). Griffin goal getters were Brent Spagnol from Dan Maggio, Brendan Pace from Doan, Jody Spagnol from Ilijasic, and Jody Spagnol from Matheson.
