Santa Claus is coming to the village; Caledon Village that is.
He will be taking part in the annual observances of Christmas in Caledon village Dec. 7, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
The Caledon Village Association (CVA) has been very busy again this year preparing for Santa’s arrival. He will be in the parade of floats commencing at Caledon Central School, proceeding down McCort Drive to Autumn Drive. The parade will cross Charleston Sideroad at Chester Drive, wind its way down Hawthorne Avenue, along Sumach Road and Chester to Spruce Drive, and will end at Maple Grove.
Everyone is invited to gather in Raeburn’s Corner parkette, beside Knox United Church. When Santa reaches the church, there will be an opportunity for a photo with him on his throne. Be sure to bring your letters for Santa’s special mailbox. The Town Crier will be on hand, as well as local dignitaries, as the children count down to light up the tree with the largest display of lights and decorations ever.
Hot dogs, hot chocolate, chocolate milk, coffee, cider, soup and treats will be served. Don’t forget to bring your food items and unwrapped toys for the firefighters, who will distribute to those less fortunate. Participate in the raffle to win some wonderful items. There will be a special children’s table, plus fabulous silent auction items. Special guests entertainers with festive music will be the Orangeville Chorus, Sweet Adelines International. Other surprises are planned as well.
Thanks go to the Caledon Lions Club, the Caledon Optimists and all the local businesses and CVA members who have contributed to make this event more successful each year.
CVA has put a big push on this year to light up the parkette. Because of significant donations from the Lions, Caledon Agricultural Society and Town council’s Community Golf Tournament, they expect the parkette to be decorated in a manner that would make Norman Rockwell proud.
Bundle up the kids, practise singing and get ready for an evening of old-fashioned family fun.
