A 50-year-old man from Montreal faces charges after Caledon OPP investigated a car without plates.
Police said a Nissan Murano was stopped Aug. 24 in the area of Kennedy Road and Dougall Avenue in Southfields Village. Officers stopped the car to investigate and immediately detected a stong smell of marijuana coming from inside.
On further investigation, they found a quantity of green plant material, believed to be marijuana, on the driver’s lap. A larger quantity of that material was found in the car, as well as alcohol that was readily accessible to the driver.
Officers also learned the man was bound by an undertaking order not to consume or possess alcohol.
The man was charged with possession of a controlled substance, failure to comply with an undertaking and operating a vehicle without insurance.
