Many May happenings are in store at Caledon Seniors’ Centre

The Caledon Seniors’ Centre welcomes you all to this transitional month of May.
It is often referred to as the “Merry Month of May,” a throwback to our agrarian past. After the long, dark winter, the ground was prepared and the first seeds were planted. The citizens celebrated with the festival of May Day. Feasting and dancing around a May Pole released them from their chores for a while, as they hoped for a good harvest to come.
We at the Centre are celebrating May in our own way, by holding our Senior In-House Games from May 2 to June 20 with an Awards Banquet June 27. Everyone is welcome to take part, so come join in the spring fun.
Our Spring Fling Dinner and Raffle was a great success and we thank all who participated or supported us by buying raffle tickets. The list of winners is as follows: Mary Morton, Sharon Hasting, Jack Couter, Judy Marren, David Abram, Tracy Marcon, Tracey Lehman, Pat Burton, Terry Manzon, Dorothy Walters, Rena Dicartanlario and Joe Tasca. Congratulations to all.
Next up on our Calendar of fun events is our Bid Euchre Tournament at the Centre. It takes place May 11 and play starts at 10 a.m. and continues until play finishes.
May 25, we host a Euchre tournament at the Centre, with play starting at 10 a.m. and continuing until it finishes.
The cost of both tournaments is $10 each and lunch is provided at both events. Both tournaments are very popular so register early and enjoy a fun day with your friends.
May 14, we offer a trip to Huntsville’s Deerhurst Inn. The trip includes a visit to Rich Hill Candles Store, lunch at the Deerhurst Resort and the show Charades. The luxury coach leaves the Centre at 8:35 a.m. and returns at approximately 5:30 p.m. The cost is $99.
The Maximize Your Health (Self Management Program) continues May 2, 9 and 16. It runs from 10 a.m. until noon at the Centre.
For further information on all programs and events, please check our website at www.caledonseniors.ca, contact us at 905-951-6114 or email us at caledonseniors@rogers.com
We wish you all a Happy Mother’s Day May 12.
A reminder that the Centre will be closed for the holiday May 20 and hope everyone has a fun Victoria Day weekend.
As always, we welcome all seniors to our Centre for warmth and fellowship. The invitation to lunch Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays is warmly extended at “your home away from home.”
