Local couple supports Headwaters hospital with $1 million donation

Shelburne residents Joan and Paul Waechter have supported the Headwaters Health Care Centre and Foundation since 1987. On Oct 1, they generously displayed their devotion by donating a whopping $1 million to support the local hospital and foundation.

“We have been long-time residents and engaged members of this community and have benefitted from the care provided at Headwaters,” explains Joan. “The time was right for us to help Headwaters ensuring the best possible care close to home and we hope the community will jump on board in support of our local hospital.”

The Waechters’ donation will be used to help fund the Lobby/Main Entrance Renovation, as well as new equipment and investing into new innovative clinical software.

The Headwaters Health Care Centre (HHCC) offers high quality health care for the Dufferin-Caledon community with a 24/7 Emergency Department coverage and extensive outpatient services offered in the newly built Ambulatory Care Centre. HHCC projects don’t receive government funding and are solely dependent on the support of the community through the fundraising organization.

In recognition of their donation, the Lobby and Main Entrance of the Hospital is being named after the couple, and will be the Joan and Paul Waechter Welcome Centre.

“Joan and Paul are some of Headwaters’ most committed supporters, they give their time and their finances and they are invested in our success,” says President and CEO of Headwaters Healthcare Centre, Stacey Daub. “The fact that they chose to support us with a gift of this magnitude is simply inspiring. In June we launched our new Strategic Plan, One Community, Caring Together – thank you Joan and Paul for putting these words into action.”
